Last weekend, we hosted the IAPTI (International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters) conference, an important gathering point for written translation, conference interpreting, and terminology. Held on September 28-29, 2024, at Bursa Technical University’s Department of English Translation and Interpreting, the event brought together professionals, academics, and students from the translation sector, addressing new developments and existing challenges in the field of translation.
The conference began with opening speeches. Dr. Ahmet Serkan Tanrıöver, Head of the Department of English Translation and Interpreting, IAPTI President Aurora Humaran, and Ceren Şentürk, President of the Bursa IAPTI Conference, spoke to the participants about current developments and challenges in the world of translation. Following the opening, a program filled with various sessions and panels was presented to the audience. Participants had the opportunity to learn about new techniques and approaches from experts in the field.
Throughout the event, topics such as translation technologies, translation in cultural context, and terminology management were discussed. Networking opportunities were also provided, facilitating the establishment of new collaborations and connections among participants.
